Finally did it!!!

Earlier this year Kevin and I decided that we need to better document the things that happen in our lives. Either we both have awful memories (quite possible) or we've just both gotten old enough to not remember when things happened ("was that last year or 2006?")  Since this was supposed to happen at the beginning of the year, we already have a list of things to catch up and blog about. Better late than never!

Smoking the BBQ
We'll start with this weekend! First thing on tap was the annual church BBQ. This year, Mt. Zion UMC cooked 1800 pounds of BBQ. Elizabeth's class was in charge of organizing it and did an amazing job putting together such a big event! Kevin and I dropped by the church after work on Friday to help out. Kevin helped Sam and the guys get the meat on the cookers and the cookers fired up. Apparently that is where all the magic happens, including cooking the butts all night long.

Saturday night, we hung out at the Epicentre with Brandon Edge and his family and friends. They were in town to run the Tough Mudder on Saturday morning. The Tough Mudder is a hard core obstacle course with mud, fire, ice-water, 10,000 volts of electricity, 12 foot high walls and underground mud tunnels. The race has raised over $6,000,000 for the Wound Warrior project. Pretty cool that they were able to dominate such a tough course!  We met them out Saturday night for drinks and dinner. We had a great time and laughed all night long. Then we met for Sunday lunch at Bad Daddy's Burger Bar.  Brandon accepted the challenge and tackled the famous Bad Ass Burger. Except it wasn't bad ass enough for him so he added a fried egg.  And he ALMOST finished it.  We really had a great time hanging out with them. It has been way too long!

Last but not least, Kevin spent his day of rest on the lake. I politely declined in favor of some shopping since it was a little chilly out. Kevin sure was glad he decided to go out today. He caught a big ol' catfish! I've named him Whiskers. Whiskers is no longer with us because he was Kevin's first keeper all year long!

For an unplanned weekend, it turned out to be a great one! And if you want some BBQ, call us. We have at least a zillion pounds in our fridge. Or maybe just two. Seems like more. 'Til next time!
